Monday and Tuesday, no school due to storm Ophelia
Wednesday, in religion were were given a quote that someone that someone in poverty said. We then had to write a short story about it. Thursday, today we audition for the melody for the variety. Ms Coyle took us out of irish and got us to audition for the role of Chad. Friday, in music we got the results for the audition i unfortunately wasn't picked. In science we extracted DNA from plant cells. We did this by breaking down the cell was and membrane with salt and washing up liquid. We then blended it in a blender to break down the nucleus

On Monday, in P.E. we did the beep test. This is a test that tests your fitness. I managed to get 7 which is far better than I expected
On Tuesday, in art we made vases. We first made impressions on a slab of clay with leaves, fabric, etc. We then rolled them into a cylinder and glued it together with slip (a mixture of clay and water) We then pressed the bottom into a triangle to seal it. On Wednesday, We had talk by a man named Paddy from Saint Vincent De Paul On Thursday, in religion we watched a video about Team Hope and shoebox appeal. I and several other people were chosen to go around asking years if they wanted to do one. On Friday, Alan Devine came back to here speeches that we prepared. Monday, Today was a training day for teacher and as a result we had no school.
Tuesday, in art we made bowls from clay, We first covered a regular bowl in cling film. We then rolled pieces of clay into cylinders and then rolled those cylinders into spirals. We then kept pressing these spirals together in the bowel until the bowel was covered. After smoothing out Wednesday, in music, we began to learn how to play the ukulele. We learned chords C and F Thursday, on Thursday we a Public Speaking Workshop. Friday, in maths we started a logic problem called 'Einstein's Riddle' On Monday, in drama Mr Coughlin auditioned us for Philadelphia Here I Come and then casted it. I got the main role as public Gar O'Donnell! Eoin, Rose and Mikey also got rolls.
On Tuesday, we had a dance workshop for the first two classes. We also had a millinery workshop later on in the day On Wednesday, in I.T. Mr Molamphy continued to show us how to use weebly as well as setting up school emails for students who did not have one. On Thursday, in Home Ec. we figured out our cooking groups and cooked pancakes. In religion we had several 'Walking Debates" on issues facing Ireland and the world. On Friday, in english we went to the computer room and researched the background to the novel 'The Help' which we would be reading. On Monday, in drama we acted out several scenes from Philadelphia Here I Come
On Tuesday, in Guidance we signed up at Careers Portal and took a test on it to see what careers would be suitable. It suggest that I should become a cadet in the Navy Engineers! On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we took a trip to Delphi Adventure Resort On Monday, in P.E. we continued learning how to play tennis. We practiced serving and learned how the points worked. There was great excitement in the school because galway had won the Senior All Ireland Hurling Final for the first time in 27 years and won the Minor All Ireland Final. During our first drama class several past pupils came in with the cup and we had an assembly.
On Tuesday, in drama we joined with the other T.Y. group and brainstormed ideas for the Variety Show On Wednesday, in religion we had a very divisive debate about immigration in Ireland. In I.T. Mr Molamphy taught us how to do our portfolios on weebly. We also missed last class because we received our Junior Certificate results. I was very happy with what i got! On Thursday, we went to Knock for a talk by Saint Vincent de Paul On Friday, in music with the help of some Leaving Cert students we took a look at some songs from grease that we may do for the variety show. On Monday, in enterprises we learned about the mini company competition as well as learning about entrepreneur.
On Tuesday, in art we spent our triple class down the town drawing. I drew a picture of the mural by the car park in town. Most of my class went down to the castle and drew picture of it. On Wednesday and Thursday we did the Health Lifestyle Program On Friday, in science we organised our groups for the Bt Young Scientist and wrote our one page proposal. On Thursday, our first day back Ms Murtagh explained to us the outline for what we were going to be doing for the year, she went through the dates for Healthy Lifestyle Program, our trip to Delphi and when our first block of work experience would be on.
On Friday, our classes were changed and we got a new timetable. We had two science classes where we brainstormed ideas for the Bt Young Scientist. We had a music class where we were singing. This was quite different because i don't think I had before that since primary school!. |
