Fota Wildlife Park
We arrived in school at 7:15 and the bus left at 7:30. We arrived at Fota at 10:30. When we arrived in Fota we split ourselves into two groups and we each played a different game. After this our group was brought to see the giraffes and the giraffe house. We saw what they were fed and we learned several facts about giraffes. We learned how there tongues are blue because they will get a sunburn. We also learn that nearly all mammals they have seven vertebrae in their back. We then saw several animals such as lions, black rhinos, tigers and gibbons. The gibbons make a very weird weird territorial call that can last up to twenty minutes that we were lucky enough to see. We then went into the butterfly habit which was amazing. There was nets at the door but apart from that it was completely open. butterflies flew around. It was truly a sight to see. We ended our visit to fota park by having a talk about all the different types of endangered animals native to Ireland.
Reflection I really enjoyed this visit. Seeing the gibbons call and the butterfly habit was remarkable. The only downside was the long travel time but it was definitely worth it. I would recommend this trip to future T.Y.s |
